Daylight savings. For me it is a double edge sword. On the one hand, I REALLY love the extra hour of sleep I get the night before. And I love that I now am getting up earlier without even trying!! But I don’t like that now it is getting dark outside WAY early!! And I’m really struggling to keep Peanut on his former sleep schedule, which means I’m trying to get him down an hour earlier…he needed this adjustment because somehow bedtime was s-l-o-w-l-y creeping out later and later…he likes to negotiate “just one more story!” There is something else that is great about Daylight saving time. It is the perfect time to check your batteries in your smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors. And with all the devastation going on back East from Hurricane Sandy, I’ve also been thinking a lot about emergency preparedness. This was perfect timing because I just received the most awesome family safety kit from Energizer. Our friends with the fuzzy mascot are at the forefront of the portable energy game, and this kit was full of some of their latest awesome goodies!
I received their Weather Ready flashlight, which is about the coolest flashlight I’ve ever seen. Not only does it have 4 super bright LED lights, which never need replacing, LEDs are virtually unbreakable, use less energy so the batteries last longer, and have no filament or glass, which during a disaster would be the best thing to have!! This flashlight also has an attached alert whistle, as well as an emergency checklist, so if you have about 5 minutes to get out of the house, you can quickly get the important stuff on your list and be gone! Something else incredible about this flashlight that I’ve never seen before? It takes not only AA batteries, but you also have the option of using AAA or C batteries… so pretty much whatever you have at your house will work!! SO convenient! Oh, and did I mention it’s waterproof?! I think I’m in love with this flashlight. I’d like one for my house AND my car!
I also received a Kidde brand “TheTalking Alarm” smoke AND carbon monoxide detector. Energizer and Kidde have teamed up to bring you the most advanced detector on the market. This detector is unlike any other I’ve seen. First of all, I’ve never seen a smoke and carbon monoxide detector all in one. (Maybe I live under a rock with that statement! ) But it is super cool because it has a VOICE alarm, as in actual words telling you if there is smoke or carbon monoxide detection, followed by a loud 85 decibel alarm. There is also a convenient “hush” button to silence unwanted alarms quickly… remember that one time with the cast iron skillet on high heat? There is also a test/reset button so you can easily test and reset both sensors circuits. And that’s not all. It has another voice telling you when the batteries are low with a beeping light… instead of the blaring beep like the ones that are in my house! (Can I tell you how annoying that is at 3AM??!!!) And if that weren’t enough, it has a memory function that will also alert you if CO levels (above 100ppm) were detected while you were away! And after all this, it’s super easy to install. Simply mount tamper resistant bracket to wall (or ceiling I’m assuming! ) with included screws, attach alarm, and turn to adjust. I think even I could manage that without the Hubbs help!! I LOVE this alarm and can’t wait to get it up!

Energizer was super generous and also sent me an awesome flameless wax candle. I LOVE flameless candles and this one didn’t disappoint. It has is real wax that has a great vanilla scent. And it’s so pretty! Doesn’t it look great with my Fall decor?! It comes in lots of great colors and would fit great with all your holiday decor! It has a great realistic flicker. I don’t have to worry about open flames or dripping wax so it’s safe for Peanut to carry around! ! I also really love it because unlike most flameless candles, this one has a timer option, so you can choose if you want it to run indefinitely, or for 4, 6, or 8 hours! How cool is that?!
