When my little man was a new little man I washed all of his clothes, sheets, burp cloths, blankets, YOU NAME IT in my regular old detergent. I figured if it was good enough for me it was good enough for him. I had heard before that baby detergent is overrated and that I shouldn’t invest in it. When we took my baby to his first doctor’s appointment I showed the doctor the rash-like bumps he had on his chest, back, legs, and even his face. The doctor told me that I needed to wash my son’s things in special baby detergent because he had sensitive skin. Go figure! I mentioned this to my sister and she said that even though he babies are 5 and 9 she still washes their things in baby detergent. In fact, she washes all of her hubby’s and her underwear in baby detergent!
Purex Baby detergent is “hypoallergenic, dermatologist-tested and formulated to be extra gentle on your little one’s sensitive skin. Purex Baby detergent leaves your baby’s clothes smelling fresh and clean, and won’t harm the flame resistance of sleepwear.” I NEVER thought before about whether or not a detergent I use on my baby’s clothes would hurt the flame resistance of their sleepwear! Good thing Purex has me covered on that one. Purex sent me some of their baby detergent to give a shot. Works and smells like a charm! I wash all of my baby’s clothes in it PLUS whatever else could touch his sensitive little skin….play mat, my shirts, burp cloths, bibs, etc. We love this stuff! I have had a hard time finding it in stores though. I don’t have a hard time finding Purex but Purex Baby I haven’t found so easily. I have looked at a few of my local stores (Target, Kroger, WinCo, Walgreens) and have yet to find it. Online it says that the only store that carries it near me is Wal-Mart.
I don’t typically shop at Wal-Mart but I guess I will head down there next time I need baby detergent. I guess when you find something you like you will go to the ends of the earth to get it? Good news is Wal-Mart carries it for $2.97!!! 32 loads of laundry for $3!!! That is a steal of a deal! What are people talking about when they say baby detergent is a waste of money!? Man, Purex Baby is cheaper than what I normally buy and better for my baby’s skin!! Doesn’t sound overrated to me! Bringing a baby into the world is very expensive. Doctor bills when baby is born, baby furniture, diapers, formula, clothes, toys, strollers, car seats…my wallet is drained. Purex won’thave that effect on your wallet though.
