With the hustle and bustle of Christmas just around the corner….what are you doing to make your Holiday Season The Best Your Family has ever seen? For us I am finishing up my shopping, getting all the presents wrapped, and even preparing a few dishes for our Holiday family parties.
Here’s ten tips from a real mom to help you make your Holiday a bit Merrier:
-When it comes to gift buying I am trying to think “Practical” and “From the heart”. I could easily run out and buy this and that and things that my kids and hubby don’t need, but this year with the pinch on our wallets I decided to take a more practical approach. New boots & shoes for the kids, along with clothing and coats. A hair cut set for the hubby so we don’t have to spend a fortune at the salon. Little things like that are great gifts and can help you throughout the year instead of just right now. Plus making something homemade is so much more fun!
-Decor and so much more! I just love decorating for any holiday. From lights and mistletoe, to table linens, and candles. The atmosphere around you can really help set the mood.
-MUSIC! I am such a big fan of music. I love how it can be such a powerful tool to touch your soul. I love streaming Christmas music throughout the home. From jingle bells, to have yourself a merry little Christmas. It can all be heard in our home all month long.
-Giving. Giving. Giving. We make it a point to give to someone or a family in need every Christmas. Even giving a few dollars to our local Salvation Army makes a big difference. I just love the feeling I get when I give.
-Calling a long lost friend or family member. I love being able to reach out to old high school and college friends this time of year. So track one down and have a good long chat and catch up.
-Donate your time to a local charity or shelter. They can always use the help and it will help you get into the holiday spirit by giving.
-Take the family out for one night. Visit a local Christmas Village, or drive and see a showcase of holiday lights. Then stop by the gas station and pick up some hot cocoa. Building fun memories that will last a lifetime.
-Host a party! It is so much fun to have a Holiday Party. Decorations all around, lights, and yummy food. Invite all of your friends and family and have a good ole’ time together. Don’t forget some fun games for the kids to play like pin the nose on Rudolph and maybe even a childrens holiday movie like Frosty the snowman for them to watch why the adults mingle.
-Don’t forget the fun toys for the kids! My kids don’t need to be spoiled but I do get them a few items that look fun for them. Like Hasbro’s 2010 Holiday “Ultimate Gifts”. Monopoly Onyx edition looks fun for the whole family and my little guy would love the transformers!
-Take some time for yourself. Take 5 minutes, 50 minutes, or even 5 hours for yourself. Go and get a pedicure and manicure, or even a massage. You will feel rejuvenated and ready to tackle the rest of the season.
