My Coca Cola Memory! FamilyClassics

Growing up in the country I have a lot of fond memories to reflect on. Sitting around in our backyard, feeling the cool breeze. Listening to the cows moo and the chickens cluck. I often remember my parents sitting outside with us. Lawn chairs lounging watching a lightning storm from the safety of the garage…what did they have in their hand? An ice-cold Coca Cola. Pop as we call it.  Often it is remembered as soda, but to us it was POP! I remember my mom always had a diet coke near her. She couldn’t live without it. I think she was addicted!

We grew up in the country and when I say country I mean 30 minutes from a grocery store or gas station. We had a little country store near our home, that was a mom and pop run place. They sold candy bars and ice cream and of course pop! I remember saving up my whole $1 and then we would ride our bikes to the country store and buy a candy bar, some penny candies, and an ice cold coke. These weren’t cokes in a can, no sir. They were the tall glass bottles. Boy were those fun. We loved them. We would ride our bikes home, and save the bottle in the garage for the next time as we would get a 5 cents refund when we returned the bottle. Oh the fond memories of my childhood. Oh how I wish I could have those care free days back.

Nonetheless, we all have to grow up and become adults. Now I like to share time with my family around the dinner table. We try to eat dinner as a family every night around the kitchen table or counter. Whether it be coke barbecue or hamburgers there is always an ice cold coke near by. A classic that will always be around! I am very excited to test and try out some of the wonderful recipes found at cookingwithcoke.com. I am amazed at all the fun things you can do with coke. From appetizers to main dishes this summer I will be stocking the coke in the fridge to try some of them. They have a  Pasta with Sun-dried Tomatoes that looks D-E-L-I-S-H! Can’t wait to try it out for my family to enjoy. Do you have any family recipes that include Coke in them? Share them with us. We would love to try them ourselves. {I wrote this blog post while participating in the SocialMoms and Coca-Cola® blogging program.
