Living Chic

We all know one……that woman who seems to have life figured out;  she is poised, well dressed, and content.  Author Jennifer L Scott knows this woman as “Madame Chic” and explains how to bring her Joie de Vivre qualities into your personal life in Lessons from Madame

Chic:

20 Stylish secrets I learned while living in Paris and her newest book At Home with Madame Chic (Becoming a Connoisseur of Daily Life) which just released At Home with Madame Chic is a charming book.  Being an easy read, I indulged in it while waiting in the pick up line at my daughters’ schools and found myself inspired.  As Ms. Scott reveals, the ultimate key to being “chic” is inner peace.  Inner peace meaning not letting everyday mundane tasks or frustrating moments steal joy away from your life.Through 6 chapters, I discovered tips Madame Chic would offer to achieve  bliss, such as how to beautifully fold a towel, keep the home decluttered, host a non-fussy afternoon tea, and simplify beauty routines.  Even cleaning the house can be chic with a  little mood music!  I loved Scott’s idea of setting a timer for 15 minutes and trying to accomplish as much as possible during those moments; then stop.  You’d be amazed at how much you can get done when you focus.  Maybe you’ve never really thought about it, but if you knew it only took 3 minutes to unload the dishwasher, would you still fuss about doing it?I particularly loved the section of At Home with Madame Chic that discussed meditation in activity rather than stillness.  I’ve always wondered why I seem so peaceful in my morning prayer and yet get winded up shortly after, while trying to get my girls off to school.  Meditation in activity is the answer;  the ability to release stress while things don’t go quite as I planned.  “Life isn’t perfect.  It isn’t always how we envision it to be.  The question is, can we adapt to this while not compromising ourselves?”~Jennifer L. Scott (excerpt from At Home with Madame Chic).  I related to so much of what was offered in this book, and feel tres chic now that I’ve read it.  It is smartly written with whimsical illustrations and many examples of how to live the chic life.
