When my husband built our house almost 15 years ago, he never intended on staying here. Then, as a single guy, he decided to stay. But there were a few things that got over looked in the building and settling in stages. One of those things was sealing the grout on our kitchen floor. He had always intended to do it but never got around to it. After dealing with lifting tiles for way too long, we finally redid our floor. We replaced the tile with wood and it looks great, if I do say so myself!
Nice huh!? We are loving it!! We put wood in the cooking area, eating area, and down the hall leading to the front door. This meant we were taking out both tile and carpet. We also got rid of a rug that had seen better days…meaning the vacuum ate it and unraveled it…a few different times. OOPS! Anyway, long story short, we were in need of some warmth in our kitchen.
“Mohawk is the world’s largest manufacturer of flooring including carpet, hardwood, laminate, ceramic tile and area rugs.” You can find something for every area of your home and commercial space. “Mohawk products are found in major retailers across the country and the world. From Home Depot to Bloomingdales, from Lowe’s to Macy’s, from Target and Wal-Mart to specialty boutiques in large cities and small towns.” Mohawk has been around since 1878!!! Now that is a company that you know you can trust. PLUS, their products are still made in the USA! My favorite part. Nothing like supporting your fellow Americans.
Mohawk was awesome enough to let me pick out a rug for the cooking area of our kitchen. Our kitchen is kind of an Tuscany feel. We have the textured and stained walls, vines with grapes, iron accents, and bare windows. In the future we would like to change out our appliances to match the feeling. Because of this kitchen design I wanted something that didn’t distract the eye and bring the attention downward. I wanted simple, warm, and rustic. That is why I chose the Woolrich Cabot rug.
This beautiful woven rug is 5’x8′ and is fade, water, stain, and mildew resistant. These are all qualities that are perfect for a kitchen! The rug is a 1/2″ high pile and made up of soft greens, camel, pastel rust, deep chocolate, natural, burgundy, moss green, and wine. Doesn’t that just scream Tuscany?! Weirdly enough it could also create a great cabin vibe. It is super soft. Not only do I love having it under my feet but I love the way it warm up the kitchen–oh! and hides the crumbs 🙂 It vacuums easily and doesn’t shed little lint like a cheap rug. This is a luxurious, high quality accent piece. It is just a great, versatile, gorgeous rug!
This rug is seriously the icing on the cake to our kitchen flooring make over. It adds just the right amount without taking away from the killer wood floor we just installed. I love my Mohawk rug! #ilovemymohawkrug
Isn’t it so much homier!? It just makes you want to get in the kitchen and make dinner. (Doesn’t it do that for you, babe?! 😉 ) Actually my puppy loves cuddling on it. Typically she will hang out on the couch while I cook but ever since laying the rug down she hangs out with me in the kitchen.
