Are you ready to send the kids back to school? I can’t believe that the Summer months have flown by. Seems like it just got warm outside. Now it’s time to get all their back 2 school clothes picked out along with all those school supplies they will need.

1-Start heading them to bed earlier. Kids love to stay up late in the Summer months with the sun shining for hours longer. Start slowly and move their bedtime up and up. So that when that first day of school comes they aren’t exhausted beyond belief.

2-Eye Exam. Nothing is harder for a child than to not be able to read the blackboard or their text books. It’s a smart idea to get an annual Eye Exam before each school year. Eye health is very important and one that should be checked at least once a year.

3-Physical. Make a Doctor’s appointment for an annual physical. This will ensure they are healthy and ready to head back to school. The Doctor will be able to sign off on their health which will make parents feel secure sending them to school too.

4-Vaccinations. Make sure you are up to date on your child’s immunizations. Flu shots are also a great way to keep them from becoming sick when they yucky flu flies around.

5-Balance their meals now. Kids tend to get on awkward eating schedules during the summer months. A great idea is to start having them eat at the same time they will at school. This will ensure that they don’t get hungry and they are ready to learn.

6-Put a morning routine into place. Start getting your kids up earlier and have them learn what they need to do to get themselves ready each morning. This will save mom a lot of headache come the first day of school.

7-Plan a time to take them to their school. Walk the grounds. It’s always a great idea to have them see their classroom and walk to halls, especially if they are new to the school. If it’s middle school or high school it will help them with their confidence come the first day.

8-Plan their lunches. If you will be packing school lunch start getting their lunchboxes picked out along with a the healthy items you want to put in them. Make a list and make a calendar with what they will be having for lunch. Let them help you plan it out.

9-Take your kids back to school shopping. Let them help you out. They will love being able to follow their fashion sense and have fun with you.

10-Set homework times. A great way to implement homework routines is to put up a dry erase board on the fridge and schedule out blocks of when they will be doing homework each night. That way when the first day comes, they will know the drill when they get home. Going back to school can be a fun and exciting time for the kids.
